AIS Race Postponed
Four members from the Glen Region traveled to Adirondack International Speedway on June 12th and met with track owner Paul Lyndaker to discuss this year’s event scheduled for August 14 - 15. Race Chairs Cheryl Boynton and Ed Zebrowski and Comp Board members Marie Sheehe Heacox and Roger Holman reviewed the facility and agreed with Mr. Lyndaker that it would be better to wait until a true road course could be developed.
The August event was to run on a course using the half mile and quarter mile tracks, forming a “C” shaped course. While not a true road course, this configuration was to be used as a start to road racing at AIS. However, it became evident that such a course did not represent the track’s true potential, and that a true road course would be developed within a year or two. The competition board was then polled and it was decided to cancel this year’s event. The region will continue to work with AIS and believe that this facility will become one of the SCCA approved tracks in the Northeast Division.
